Ok, everything at home, but the first to go is Conte. Now think about it Mattarella – Il Tempo

In the first pandemic wave, the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, catalyzed the attention of the population who, faced with an unknown but treacherous phenomenon, entrusted themselves to the leadership of the emergency in the hope that the virus would be eradicated. The epidemic “relapse”, on the other hand, is causing dissension towards the political apex that coordinates the emergency, since organizational omissions are verified during the lukewarm phase of the virus. To avoid the stress of the saturation of the hospital network, new resuscitation beds should have been implemented and territorial medicine strengthened, while there are culpable delays on both fronts with Commissioner Arcuri transferring the responsibilities of inefficiencies to the Regions.

On January 31, a state of emergency was decreed, with the invocation of special powers, to manage the health crisis in derogation of the ordinary procedures. However, the distortions attributable to the governance of the emergency, which ignored the need to prepare quickly for the foreseeable second wave of Covid, are certified in the tampons, in the masks, in the health organization, in the school and in the economic assistance. The failure of prevention is causing the reactivation of coercive measures that penalize the socio-economic fabric of the country, which reacts by mobilizing protest to the government in the streets.

Conte has become involved and cannot even handle the internal fibrillations of his majority with the critical voice of Italia Viva that disputes the restrictive measures contemplated in the last Dpcm. The only support for Conte is offered by Marco Travaglio’s “Fatto Quotidiano”, who has abandoned the alarmist line, undertaking a reductionist narrative on the evolution of the epidemic not to photograph reality but with the aim of alleviating the organizational negligence of the structure of emergency. The extraordinary commissioner Domenico Arcuri is an emanation of the political leadership of the government in power, which assumes responsibility for the dysfunctions unmasked by the “awakening” of the epidemic. Hiding the poor service of the emergency means perpetuating a failed structure, while in order to appease the disputes, a sign of discontinuity must be offered that can coagulate all political forces towards a path of collaboration that pacifies the social climate.

The hand extended by Conte to set up a control room was understandably rejected by the opposition, having been ignored with stubborn arrogance in recent months. The late involvement of the center-right generates suspicion of the trap with which Conte tries to distribute the blame that today is concentrated in his management.

A solitary government and expression of a Palazzo alchemy does not have the political authority to face the worst economic crisis since the war. The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, has the elements to advocate for the formation of an ex novo government that brings together the country’s healthy energies towards a path of socio-economic regeneration. Italians are tired of the vacillating communication that evokes total, partial, generational, surgical or light closure, sowing uncertainty in economic operators and confusion in families. Everyone at home? Ok, but you start Conte to go there.
