The death toll rises during the attack on Kabul University. The victims are at least 22, 19 students and three assailants, according to the latest figures provided by the Afghan authorities.

The attack ended after six hours. The three armed men who were part of the command were killed.

The claim came through Amaq, the propaganda arm of the Islamic State, with a post on Telegram. “Two Islamic State fighters managed to attack a rally organized by the Afghan government at the University of Kabul to obtain the diploma of judges and investigators after completing a course at the university.” “The two combatants targeted the graduates with automatic weapons,” it is said, “and then clashed with the security forces” who were guarding the ceremony and with reinforcements.

“Condemnation for the shocking attack on the University of Kabul” is expressed in a tweet from the UN Mission in Afghanistan (Unama). ” There can be no justification for unleashing such terrible violence in a school or university. Our sincerest condolences go out to the family and friends of the victim, ” the tweet wrote.

“Italy strongly condemns today’s attack on the University of Kabul, the latest in a series of terrible crimes against educational facilities.” The Italian Embassy in Kabul writes in a tweet. “Attacks against the civilian population, and particularly against young Afghans who are investing in their future, must stop now,” concludes the Embassy.
