The governor Luca zaia signed today, Saturday October 31, the ordinance that will be applied in Veneto to the agreement between the Ministry of Health and general practitioners for the execution of quick swabs, approved on Friday at the State-Regions Conference.
A provision put in place with the aim of alleviating the covid points installed by the Local Health Units in the regional territory, in some cases drive-ins, which with the increase in infections get stuck between kilometer queues and patient protests. The ordinance states that the Region provides 3,150 general practitioners (and a similar agreement with pediatricians is in the process of closing, 500 in Veneto) personal protective equipment and quick pads for an estimated total of 20 thousand tests daily.
The white coats will be forced to test his patients (Conscientious objection is not allowed, Zaia said) in the event that a suspicion arises of a possible infection from telephone triage. Doctors will receive 18 euros if the swab is done in the clinic, 12 euros if outside the clinic, such as at the patient’s home or in spaces agreed with the municipalities and health districts, which have offered to make it available if the clinics do not allow compliance with security measures.
In any case, the patient will not have to pay a euro because the total amount, assigned by the State, will be paid directly by the Region to the general practitioner in the agreement stipulated between the latter and the institution. In this regard – warned Zaia – I warn that if a doctor refuses to perform the test, he will be sanctioned and the agreement with the regional health system could be revoked.
The doctor will also act as a health authority: in the event that the test is positive, in fact, the insertion of the patient’s data in the regional database, with the consequent initiation of quarantine, will be immediately transmitted to the INPS, without passing -as has happened so far- by the prevention departments of the Local Health Units. THE covid points they will stay anyway Operational but they will mainly be dedicated to massive tests that may be necessary in case of outbreaks at school, in companies or in nursing homes.
Lombardy
In Lombardy it will begin next week: rapid antigen tests, explained the Ats, will be aimed mainly at schools and the social and health sector. Later – said the president of the Region Attilio Fontana, thanks to a resolution that will be presented on Tuesday, November 3, they will be delivered to family doctors and pediatricians who will make them available. Therefore, unlike what happens in Veneto, doctors and pediatricians will not be obliged to carry out the tests: only those who give their availability will do it.
Lazio
In Lazio, the distribution of rapid antigenic swabs to general practitioners began on Monday, said regional health advisor Alessio D’Amato. Technical research is also being conducted with the pharmacy network for serological and antigen testing. It has not been specified at the time whether all physicians and pediatricians should perform the tests.
