Sean Connery is dead. At the age of 90 farewell to the great Scottish actor. The BBC advertises it on its website, citing familiar sources. First and iconic James Bond performer, then demonstrated his versatility in his long career by winning an Oscar in 1988 for Best Actor for Los Untocables, two Baftas and three Golden Globes.

The Scottish actor became world famous for his portrayal of James Bond, appearing in seven of the films of the saga born in 1953 from the pen of British writer Ian Fleming. His acting career spanned decades and his numerous awards included an Oscar, two Bafta Awards and three Golden Globes. Named ‘Sir’ by the Queen in 2000, the actor starred in several other blockbuster films including ‘The Hunt for Red October’, ‘ Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade ‘and’ The Rock ‘. He won an Oscar in 1988 as a supporting actor in “The Untouchables,” opposite Robert De Niro and Kevin Costner. He had turned 90 in August.

Sean Connery died in his sleep after battling a long illness while in the BahamasVariety News reports citing the family. The actor was married to actress Diane Cilento from 1962 to 1973. The couple divorced in 1973 and Cilento died in 2011. Connery leaves behind his second wife, painter Micheline Roquebrune, to whom he has been married since 1975; son Jason, also an actor, son of his first wife, and grandson, son of Jason.

Our country is in mourning for one of its dearest sons,” he continues. “Sean was born into a working-class family in Edinburgh and thanks to his talent and hard work he has become an icon of international cinema and one of the most successful actors in the world.”
