The Tunisian Brahim Aoussaoui, 21, who was responsible for yesterday morning’s attack on the Nice Cathedral, had told his brother – who lives in Tunisia – that he “wanted to spend the night in front of the basilica.” The same brother said it in Al Arabiya. The man also sent his brother “a photo of the building.” The family confirmed that “what we saw in the photos is him, our son.” “He called me on the phone as soon as he arrived in France,” the mother explained. A neighbor said that before leaving the country “he had done various jobs.”
Tunisia has strongly condemned the terrorist attack and the capital’s antiterrorist prosecutor has opened an investigation to clarify the contacts and life of Aoussaoui in Tunisia. Investigators have already heard from some family members.
