CATANZARO – Schools closed from Friday in Calabria.

The acting president, Nino Spirlì, took note tonight of a negative evolution of tampons with a continuous growth of positives in Calabria. To do this, the president of the Region has prepared an ordinance that must be signed on Thursday.

Schools of all levels and levels closed for a month. This is the drastic decision, therefore, but considered necessary to try to block the continued increase in infections.

Spirlì remained in his office, in the regional citadel of Catanzaro, until late. In the evening he also had an interlocution with Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, during which the hypothesis of the national confinement on which the Government would be reflecting was leaked. At the moment a hypothesis that could arrive at the beginning of next week, on which there would be divergent positions but that they would not have alternatives.

Regarding the provision of Calabria and the closure of schools, Spirlì analyzed the positive data of the last days. More than two hundred infections a day indicate a number that can hardly be managed by the regional health system. Hence the election of the president without half measures.

Among other things, even more complex numbers are leaking from Calabrian sanitary facilities. Multiple swabs would have to be processed and consequently a hypothetical higher number of positives. Under these conditions, all that remains is to adopt measures and Spirlì is convinced that the first step is precisely to close the schools. Without waiting for the movements that the Government will be able to take after having taken note of the emergency situation that now affects too many regions.
