It was largely predictable. In a nation where we are all soccer coaches, opinion leaders, experts in everything, inspectors, sheriffs, journalists, political scientists, doctors, lawyers and scientists, not even the management of the pandemic could escape. Italy in February proved weak and unprepared for the management ofCovid emergency.
Sudden infections have shown that linear cuts to health and political management of the system have created considerable damage and inefficiencies. Faced with so many good operators in the health sector, our country has always had great problems both in terms of hospital facilities, and with respect to the low number of doctors and nurses.
The pandemic has only sensationally revealed this aspect. Given this panorama and the uncertainty about how to treat Covid patients, the government could not avoid closing everything to avoid chaos in health. In March it was correct and sensible. But there is a big but. During this phase it was necessary to study a recovery plan and helpful initiatives to avoid returning to fall unprepared. We all knew that the virus still existed.
The government first imposed measures and precautions to allow reopening to numerous sectors and individual entrepreneurs. Everything towards the individual and with very high responsibilities. In this period, however, we have witnessed, in parallel, the classic spectacularization of the emergency. Much of the information used the Covid argument in an alarmist and absurd way.
So many ghost experts have been invited to create and generate confusion, sloppiness, hysteria, different points of view and data on the virus and infections without any objective scientific rigor. All largely subjective and questionable. And if you do it on television from morning to night, you only create, depending on the case and the sensitivity of citizens, mistrust, anxiety, stress, denial, exaggeration, mistrust in institutions and above all strong social tension.
That is why the government has always seemed at the mercy of eager and obsessive journalistic communication. But a government and a prime minister could not afford it. It is a communication management directed by Rocco casalino, the result of his experience adapted to Big Brother.
After three months of total lockdown on many of the country’s activities, with a widening gap between protected and non-permanent employees, coming up with other pointless shutdowns made no sense and shouldn’t have happened. And about this Conte clearly lied to the Italians. During these months, no action was taken on the places of greatest contagion, namely i public transport. Obviously with great responsibility of some regional presidents and mayors, very good appearing but little putting real solutions in motion. For this reason, Conte’s last Dpcm is completely wrong and illogical.
Crazy and serious he modus operandi of the prime minister. Press conferences announced every five days. Drafts of Dpcm scattered on newspapers and TV. And so? After a week before telling the gyms to be in order, under penalty of closure, what are you doing? Close not only the gyms, but bars, restaurants, pastry shops, cinemas, theaters and places of culture. Paradoxically, the safest and most controlled places.
Because maybe it’s good to remember, restaurants, cinemas, gyms and theaters are the ones that have the punctuality traceability of citizens and therefore of possible contagions. And above all they do not appear sprouts in none of these places except sporadic cases. Not to mention the absurd discrimination between professional and amateur sports. As if the virus made distinctions.
In short, the problem, without being an expert in everything, is common sense, logic and coherence. Because if throughout the day you allow the movement of people in buses, trams, very crowded subways and without knowing who may have used those vehicles, it is not clear for what logical reason you can close theaters, cinemas, restaurants and gyms that respect the distance. and traceability. And that’s what it does correctly to protest and piss off people.
You cannot take away work, dignity and life just by promising little ones state refunds with measures taken by the prime minister without any social and scientific exchange. The closing is simply the easiest thing but it certifies the failure of this premiere. There are no excuses or justifications. The time was there and it was not used to do what was needed.
Conte has two solutions: immediately review and modify this Dpcm, opening up to all political forces share sensible, consistent, and helpful action, or resign. Choose well and in the interest of Italy and its democratic, social and institutional stability.

we need you.
In these weeks of pandemic, journalists, if we do our work conscientiously, we carry out a public service. Also for this reason, every day here at ilfattoquotidiano.it we are proud to offer hundreds of new content for free to all citizens: news, exclusive insights, expert interviews, surveys, videos and much more. All this work, however, comes at great financial cost. Advertising, at a time when the economy is stagnant, offers limited income. Not in line with the access boom. That is why I ask those who read these lines to support us. Give us a minimum contribution, equal to the price of a cappuccino per week, which is essential for our work.

But now we are the ones who need you. Because our work has a cost. We are proud to be able to offer hundreds of new content to all citizens for free every day. But advertising, at a time when the economy is stagnant, offers limited revenue. Not in line with the boom in access to ilfattoquotidiano.it. That is why I ask you to support us, with a minimum contribution, equal to the price of one cappuccino per week. A small but fundamental sum for our work. Give us a hand!
