More than a thousand infections. The virus continues to advance in the capital of Apulia. This is confirmed by the figures that appear in the latest report sent by the prefecture to the municipality. In Bari there are currently 1,068 citizens who are positive for the virus and who are in fiduciary isolation: a figure that, therefore, does not include hospitalized patients. On the other hand, 1,234 people are in quarantine, that is, they cannot leave their homes because they are waiting for a tampon or because they have close positive contacts. The numbers show that the trend has not changed. And as in the space of almost two months, September and October, the virus spread rapidly in the city, with an incidence much higher than that registered between March and April.
At the end of August, there were only 129 cases, a figure that tripled in just under 30 days (on September 22 there were 448). And precisely to give the green light to measures that, together with those adopted by the Giuseppe Conte government, can stop the spread of Covid, the municipal operational commission met at the City Hall. Among the decisions adopted is to prohibit the participation of guests, and therefore family and friends, in civil weddings. The couple can only be accompanied by one witness each. Conferences, or more generally organized appointments by associations and individuals in all municipal offices, it will be suspended. The obligation to close at 6 pm, in force for pubs, restaurants and public places, has also been extended to h24 automatic distribution. Gaming machines installed in commercial establishments will be turned off.
These are some of the measures adopted by the municipal operating committee, which also envisaged quotas and staggered entrances in the city’s cemeteries on November 1 and 2. The people counter application, already tested in city markets in the first months of the emergency, will be used to avoid meetings. Administration The city is also working, however, to make access to public offices, such as the registry, the Heritage headquarters and the municipal police, more secure. The road markings, with placeholder stickers, will ensure spacing and starting next week, stations will be installed for monitoring body temperature. If the parks and gardens remain open (some signs remind us of the obligation to comply with the regulations), the Municipality is considering the possibility of closing spaces such as children’s games, where it does not always seem that the distance is respected. Therefore, the city is preparing to live with the new rules imposed by the spread of the epidemic.
And restaurateurs are doing the same. With the obligation to close at 6 in the afternoon, for many there is only the lunch break. However, not everyone would be willing to stay open. “With the use of smart work and the absence of tourists, it is difficult for many locals to survive.” What about home delivery at night? “The main operators that manage deliveries unfortunately apply rates that are not convenient. At this point, for many, the only alternative is to stay closed and lay off employees”, says Gianni Del Mastro, restaurateur of the old town member of the association
Business movement.
