The coronavirus strongly affects the lives of Italians again. The latest bulletins on the pandemic in Italy are shaking.
At the national level there are more than 15 thousand new infections and 127 deaths (IL BULLETTINO), in Sardinia (I DATI) there are 167 new positives and 4 new victims are registered. And the alarm does not stop in hospitals, looking for beds to face the increase in hospitalizations due to Covid.
A situation that is progressively leading the Government and the Regions to proceed with specific restrictions in an attempt to curb infections.
In Lombardy, starting tonight, the curfew goes into effect from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. and secondary schools will start distance education. Campania prohibits travel between provinces, restrictions also in Lazio, where self-certification returns.
And Sardinia is also preparing to take countermeasures.
“The progression of the contagion curve is accelerating, which requires additional and timely actions to avoid compromising the resilience of the health system and the regular provision of care,” said Governor Christian Solinas. Adding: “We are prepared, if in the next few hours the number of hospitalizations continues to increase with the current trend, to intervene radically to reverse the trend and protect the health of Sardinians.”
Specifically, it is planned to apply a 15-day “Stop & Go” on the island for the main activities, “with the simultaneous closure of ports and airports to quickly and incisively limit the movement of people and, with them, the virus.”
At the same time, Solinas concluded, “economic support measures will be put in place to bear the losses derived from the temporary suspension of activities.”
Interventions are also requested by the ANCI, which invites regional institutions to move from words to deeds.
In short, “drastic” measures are in sight, aimed at curbing the epidemic, in an attempt to curb infections and deaths and give encouragement to hospitals, increasingly under pressure, in this second wave that is putting – again – the system to a severe test Italy.
