Giuseppe Conte’s press conference announced the measurements of the new Dpcm, with profound repercussions also for the world of sport. Especially at the amateur level: What will be allowed to do and what will not?
From Series D to the First Category, the decree leaves no room for doubt: “Only events and competitions involving individual and team sports are allowed recognized as being of national or regional interest by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) “. Hello then also Serie A and B women, in addition to the same categories of the Primavera championship. Instead, they do not fall within the definition, since they are not recognized by FIGC, Second and Third Category that will then have to stop.
There will also be more adjustments to the public for sporting events (the maximum limit of 1000 spectators for outdoor competitions, however by fifteen% compared to full capacity, but falls to 200 in sports halls and other indoor facilities).
Soccer schools and training
Here will be the most radical consequences. In fact, the decree says that: “Basic amateur sports activity, schools and initial training activities related to contact sports are allowed only individually and no races or competitions are allowed. All tenders are also suspended, competitions and activities related to contact sports with a recreational-amateur nature“.
So stop any other form of youth sport, including training. The only option allowed is individual training, without contact with third parties and therefore outside of the sports facilities usually enabled. A solution that may be convenient for other contact sports (think martial arts), but in fact leaves no room for soccer or other sports that involve team training.
