A campaign of two million serological tests, the first in Italy entirely dedicated to students (from 0 to 18 years old), family members living together and university students, provided they are assisted in Emilia-Romagna. On Monday, the Region starts the free and fast selection (takes place in 15 minutes) available by reservation in more than 660 pharmacies, which have signed up from Piacenza to Rimini so far, but the number is constantly increasing.

The initiative will remain active until June 30, 2021, with the possibility of taking the test even more than once during the school year. A massive epidemiological investigation, with which the Region reinforces the prevention and control activity against the coronavirus, was possible thanks to the agreement signed with the territorial trade associations of public and private pharmacies. With an estimate of at least 400,000 tests in the first month, Emilia-Romagna is willing to invest significantly in identifying and circumscribing the infection: each test in the pharmacy costs the Health Service 16.76 euros, but for the citizen everything will be free. To participate in the screening, simply make an appointment with the pharmacy.

“A campaign that potentially targets almost half of the population of Emilia-Romagna, because while waiting for the vaccine, this battle against the virus can only be won with our ability to identify, circumscribe and extinguish any new outbreak in the bud.” says Raffaele Donini, councilor for health policies.
