The health plan to manage the evolution of the epidemic: strengthening beds, territorial collaboration network, hotels for quarantines
FERRARA. The coronavirus puts pressure on the health system again but, even assuming the worst scenario, there will never be a “block” on visits and exams: all health services will continue to be provided in any case. This is the common thread of the plans made by ASL and Sant’Anna to face the resurgence of the epidemic. With a second important change in the face of the dark days of March and April: three hospitals will be in the field in the management of Covid patients, because Cento will join Cona and Lagosanto. With Argenta willing to intervene in support if the situation worsens to the point of having to order part of the ordinary activity in a Covid-free center.
STAGES AND BEDS
The leaders of ASL and Sant’Anna Monica Calamai and Paola Bardasi illustrated yesterday the document that will have to be approved in a few days (we are talking about next week) to be sent to the Region. Time is short, the situation is constantly evolving, and we are rapidly moving from “scenario 1” (with localized and controlled transmission of the virus) to “scenario 2” (sustained and widespread transmissibility), with the threat imminent. of “scenario 3” that would lead us to an uncontrolled epidemic capable of undermining the stability of the health system.
Precisely from these three scenarios defined by the Higher Institute of Health, the companies have developed the strategies for the emergency levels, the steps of which will be managed by a permanent crisis unit made up of 15 people. Therefore, the focus is on a solid network of territorial collaboration between hospitals, Usca, Health Homes, Community Hospitals (Osco), Palliative Care and Hospice Services. The Cona hospital will host patients from the Central-North district, the Delta hospital will welcome patients from the Southeast area, while hospitalizations from the West District will converge in Cento. Cento and Lagosanto are called to increase their beds also in Intensive and Semi-Intensive Care and in particular, in Phase 2, Cento should have 1 place in Intensive Care and 4 in Semi-Intensive Care, plus 57 ordinary hospitalizations, and Lagosanto ( which currently has 10 places, in the process of saturation) 4 places in Intensive Care and 6 in Semi-Intensive Care, with 44 ordinary hospitalizations. In a hypothetical phase 3, the places in intensive care would reach a maximum of 6 in Cento and 10 in Lagosanto, the semi-intensive 4 in Cento and 14 in Lagosanto, and the ordinary Covid 92 hospitalizations in Cento and 86 in Lagosanto. The “clean” birth path will always be guaranteed for both facilities, as well as the entire system will have to rely on a total separation of Covid and non-Covid pathways, keeping as a beacon the guarantee of continuity extra coronavirus specialist and ambulatory, mainly resorting to specialists ambulatory. associated.
An approach embraced by mayors. Toselli in particular said that Cento is willing to do its part, stressed the psychological importance, despite the impossibility of visiting the hospital, of meeting hospitalized near and dear ones and asked to be able to replicate the Experience at the Ferrara hotel for difficult quarantines. In this sense, the ASL has renewed the agreement with the Astra hotel until the end of December, increasing the number of places to 36.
FRAGILE PATIENTS
The plan also provides for the exemption of Osco and Hospices, structures with particularly fragile patients, from the management of Covid cases, with the sole exception, but only in phase 3, of the former San Camillo di Comacchio (logistically adequate to support separate paths ) and, at all stages, home palliative care for patients with coronavirus.
Until now, the Sant’Anna di Cona hospital had 28 Covid hospitalization places (12 in Infectious Diseases for suspected or confirmed cases and 16 in Pneumology only for confirmed Covid), and 8 in Intensive Care, which have now been added After the leap forward in hospitalizations, a new hospitalization in cohort medicine with 12 beds. An equipment that will be implemented with the transition to Scenario 2 (which in fact seems to be an increasingly closer reality in the Ferrara area). In this case, the places in Infectious Diseases would rise to 18 while those of Pneumo Covid would continue to be 16, but with an increase of up to 11 places for Intensive Care.
In scenario 3, the numbers of Covid hospitalization would return to the spring situation, with 182 total places through the reactivation of two rooms for suspected Covid with 12 and 24 places, three departments for Covid patients with 24, 48 and 46 places and two intensive care units 13 and 15 places. –
