2,067 infections and 26 deaths. Hospitalizations are increasing

The Lombardy Region has published the data from today’s bulletin, Thursday, October 15, related to the Coronavirus emergency. As reported, 2,067 new Covid-19 infections were reported in the last 24 hours out of 32,507 swabs performed. As for deaths, since yesterday there have been 27 deaths (yesterday there were 17). Since February, according to official data, 17,037 citizens have died. In total, 2,411,663 swabs have been made in Lombardy since the start of the pandemic.

Lombardy newsletter data: 81 new hospital admissions

As infections rise, so do hospital admissions for patients requiring more in-depth care. In one day, the number of hospitalized patients increased by 81 units, bringing the total to 726. The number of hospitalized in intensive care is also growing, although to a lesser extent: since yesterday, there have been 8 new patients who need assisted ventilation to breathe easier, for a total of 72. The number of cures also increased significantly, now 84,624 (more than 209 in 24 hours).

Gallera: Rapid increase in infections but the system is reacting

In an interview with Corriere della Sera, Health Councilor Giulio Gallera explained that the increase in daily Coronavirus infections is represented by “a very rapid wave” to which “the system is reacting because it was ready.” The number one in Welfare explained that in Lombardy “1,550 beds” have been reached in 18 different centers-hospitals. The number of places in intensive care has increased by 150 while that of subintensive care has increased by 400 new beds.
