Apple just introduced iPhone 12, the new smartphone “of reference” of the apple, flanked by the iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max.
By the name we understand that this is the flagship device, the most balanced in size and price. The iPhone 12 has a screen 6.1 ″ Super Retina XDR, a screen that is a cross between the small Mini and the large Pro Max. The screen is a OLED panel with brightness of up to 1,200 nits, resolution of 2,532 × 1,170 pixels and pixel density of 460 ppi.
This year the design also changes– The new iPhone 12 family is shaped very reminiscent of the old (and beautiful) iPhone 4, with an aluminum frame and sharp edges.
Additionally, Apple has partnered with Corning (the company that makes Gorilla Glass) to make a new type of glass called Ceramic shield. It is a particularly resistant panel, which has a resistance up to 4 times higher Compared to that of other smartphones.
Like the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro / Pro Max, this basic version is also equipped with the processor Apple A14 Bionic, which stands out for being the first chip on the market made with 5nm construction process, which guarantees a large increase in performance.
Apple has announced that it is the fastest mobile processor in the world, with up to 50% higher processor and GPU performance than the competition.
During the presentation, Apple focused a lot on two aspects: 5G and photography.
The iPhone 12, in fact, are the first Apple smartphones that support connection to next-generation networks: during the presentation, the Apple team reiterated all the possibilities that 5G offers (including games without lag) and spoke about accelerating up to 4 Gbps download and up to 200 Mbps upstream (obviously in optimal conditions)
In addition, to optimize battery consumption, Apple introduced the mode Smart data. This is a function that automatically chooses whether to use the 4G or 5G network, as needed.
Unfortunately, it appears that mmWave support will only be for the United States.
On the photographic front, we find two cameras: wide angle and ultra wide angle:
- Wide angle: f / 1.6 aperture, 7p lens, 26mm focal length, optical image stabilization
- Ultra wide angle: f / 2.4 aperture, 5p lens, 13mm focal length, 120 ° field of view

MagSafe
In the new iPhone 12 family, Apple has introduced a new one magnetic connector in the back called MagSafe (like the old Mac connector).
It is a connector that facilitates wireless charging (it is magnetically coupled to the charger produced by Apple), which will also be implemented by third-party manufacturers.
Departure and price
The iPhone 12 will be available to pre-order from October 16, with availability from October 23. It will be available in 5 colors: black, blue, green, red (PRODUCT) RED and white.
