A promising supermodel career, glossy magazine covers and campaigns for brands like Dolce & Gabbana. For Eloísa Pinto Fontes, born 26 years ago in a small town in the interior of Alagoas, the doors of the fashion system had been opened: from an unknown girl to an international top model. But suddenly Eloisa’s dream was shattered, for no reason: in June 2019, she was found wandering down a street in White Plains, a city about 30 minutes by train from downtown Manhattan, New York. She had been missing for five days at the time. Then, after a new disappearance, there is no news of her for a whole year, in which searches and appeals from desperate relatives multiplied (Eloisa has eight siblings).
The find
Total silence, until Wednesday, October 7, when he reappeared in a favela located on a hill in Rio de Janeiro. The police explained that the young woman was located by agents in the Morro do Cantagalo favela in Ipanema, in the southern part of the city. And although it is not yet known how she got there, the press revealed that the woman was found living on the street and was in mortal danger. Immediately after the discovery, Eloísa was admitted to a psychiatric hospital, the Philippe Pinel Municipal Institute of Rio de Janeiro. The municipal health secretary reported that information about his situation was limited exclusively to the family.
Husband and daughter
When model Eloísa Pintos Fontes disappeared near New York in 2019, the Brazilian press reported the case in its main newspapers: she was married at the time and had a daughter of 41-year-old Russian model and executive producer Andre Birleanul. The two met in 2012, in Sao Paulo, and got married in 2014. Andre has an older daughter from a previous relationship with another Brazilian model. He was known for his participation in the American VH1 program “America’s Smartest Model”. Now it remains to be clarified how Eloisa spent the last year in which she was declared “disappeared” and how she ended up in the Cantagalo favela.
