Infections are multiplying, it is increasingly difficult to rebuild the chain of contacts. Umberto I and ex Mari close

ASCOLI – The Coronavirus There is no truce and it continues to spread in the province of Piceno, especially affecting young people (and therefore the schools they attend). The vast Area 5 stands out from the rest by the high number of tampons processed (up to eight hundred a day) but the problem is that now the reagents begin to run out with the lengthening of response times. Refueling should arrive today. Yesterday only 50 swabs were tested with two positive cases.

Rapid tests, debut with a bang: 17 positive students in Covid. Mazzocchi high school will not reopen its doors, infected teachers and students even in classical high school

After the Coronavirus positivity cases registered in the Mazzocchi, Orsini and Licini and Stabili high schools, yesterday it was the turn of the linguistic high school where there are suspected cases of a teacher and students. Therefore, all the classes hosted at Umberto I and at the former Mari Secondary School in via Faleria will be held remotely throughout the week in the hope that everything goes well and that we are not infected. Interned in the intensive care unit of the Madonna del Soccorso hospital in San Benedetto del Tronto.

Meanwhile, pending Prime Minister Conte’s next decree on measures to contain the virus, mayors are beginning to move independently. The mayor of Comunanza, Álvaro Cesaroni, for example, signed the ordinance that prohibits the use of sports practices in school gyms and the use of changing rooms in the two soccer fields and in the municipal sports center. The mayor recommends the usual antivirus practices: masks, distancing, hand washing and not overcrowding.

There are 731 people in home isolation in Ascoli and the province. A large number that poses big problems with regard to contact tracing, that is, tracing the contacts of positive people. A compromise by no means easy for the operators of the Vast Area 5 Prevention Department, which is trying by all means to trace the chain of infections from each individual in home isolation. This is a function of the Prevention Department that is essential because it represents a filter for possible hospital admissions, thus relieving pressure on the health system. In short, the goal is to identify and block any positive Covid-19 subjects, before flooding the Emergency Department and the hospital. But this is only one of the aspects related to home isolation, because one of the tasks assigned to the Prevention Department is to know the health status of the subjects on a daily basis through telephone interviews. And it is well understood how with more than 700 people in home isolation, the task of the Prevention Department becomes almost impossible. Thus, Asur has decided to run for cover, trying to streamline contact operations between the Prevention Department and people in isolation without, however, penalizing the reliability of the system.

In practice, daily contact between healthcare personnel and the person in isolation occurs through a recorded tape with which the course of the quarantine is asked and whether there are symptoms of the disease. A team of experts will listen to all phone calls and make the right decisions. Is this system reliable? The operators ensure that the validity of the responses and the consequent actions are not penalized with respect to the system that was used in the months of March and April. Meanwhile, rapid Vast Area 5 swab tests have begun, those that will give the answer about the possible positivity of a subject in a few minutes. It must be said that this diagnostic system is less reliable than the traditional swab test, but according to experts it has a great advantage in the sense that if the swab is negative, the answer comes immediately. This, at least, is the intention of the Vast Area 5 health authorities, who have decided to resort to this type of test after the pandemic has grown and try to block the infection, particularly in schools.
