This week’s numbers take us back to the darkest times of the Covid emergency. The progression of the last days is such that the averages have risen exponentially: it began, in fact, in a less alarming way with 15 cases in the first two days (13 and 2), from then on there was the explosion with two consecutive days to 40 cases, one to 32 and, yesterday, another 42. Currently the average for the week is 28.16. However, considering only the data from Wednesday onwards, the value rises to 38.5.
It had never happened that for four consecutive days it rose steadily above 32 with three days out of four of 40 or more. Even the most critical week from the point of view of infections (March 23-29), the one that closed at 214 had some increases, but also some declines. Then there were 14 cases on Monday, 32 the next day, then Wednesday and Friday 26 and 29, days interspersed with 47, which so far is the record never reached in Ciociaria for the number of daily infections. Then a new rebound to 42 and decrease to 24. In the four most critical days (March 25-28) then there were, again since Wednesday, 144 cases or 36 per day (and therefore a figure lower than that of the last four days). Then, considering the 32 of Tuesday, March 24, over five days, the average rises to 35.2. It is clear that if the pace remains the same, it is one step away from the total recorded between March 23 and 29. After all, the swabs made yesterday were many, and quite a few were positive. There should be at least as many cases today as there were reported yesterday.
In October, however, there are already 247 cases, 24 more than last month and 14 more than the total for April. 247 cases in ten days means 24.7 per day, a very high average, even higher than the 13.8 cases in March.
Hotels to help
This being the case, Covid’s regional crisis unit is also evaluating the use of hotel facilities to house those patients who no longer need hospitalization. “Assisted hotel facilities are used to discharge clinically cured patients who must complete the period of negativization – reads a note from the crisis unit – They are a scenario that the regional health service has used from the beginning, the first model was the Marriott for the Covid of the Gemelli polyclinic, so as not to overload the hospitals and for those who had no form of quarantine at home.
