The first fines skyrocket in Sicily for failure to comply with the provisions against coronavirus infection. In Palermo, the police from the Oreto-police station, from the Crime Prevention Department, assisted by the municipal police and ASP personnel, guarded the streets of the historic center and in particular the area of Ballarò and that of Piazza Revolution, with fines of more than 8000 euros.
In Ballarò, an ethnic convenience store turned out to be completely abusive, lacking a Sanitary and Municipal Health Service: administrative seizure and a global fine of 6,000 euros were triggered.
The owner of a bar in Piazza Revolution was accused of hygienic and sanitary deficiencies and the lack of operational cards, infractions punished with fines of 2000 euros. For the owner, also the sanction of 400 euros related to the infraction of the distance measures, for which the seizure of the commercial activity was also triggered for one day.
Two sanctions in via Oreto of 400 euros to the same number of passers-by, caught in the street without a mask, and to the owner of a sandwich in via Oreto. In total, 40 people were identified and controlled, in addition to those already mentioned and sanctioned, another 4 facilities found in order.
The prefectures are moving to halt the advance of rampant nightlife, to maintain the obligation of outdoor masks and to avoid gatherings during school entry and exit hours, in order to protect students, teachers and parents. The latter, together with the commercial premises and the evening meeting areas, are of special observation. In Palermo and Agrigento, for example, school administrators have been advised to closely monitor children’s behavior so that they are as responsible as possible.
In case of violation of the regulations, the fines range between 400 and 1,000 euros. Those who do not enforce the prohibitions, in addition to the sanction, may then add another administrative sanction until the temporary closure of the activity. There will be military to support the police to ensure safety distance and compliance with the rules. A wish also welcomed by the mayor of Messina, Cateno De Luca: “Enough of this generalized ba bbiu that leads to an underestimation that borders, in some cases, even farce. Someone does not send their children to school because the classrooms would not comply but they agree that their children stay in groups to camp without a mask ”.
It also decided to stop the sale of food and beverages from 9:30 p.m. to supermarkets and bakeries and not to bring take-out food after 11 p.m. Controls were also intensified in Enna and Caltanissetta. In Catania, the soldiers of the “Safe Roads” operation and the municipal police will make their contribution.
