The mayor of Naples, Luigi de Magistris, sent a letter this morning to the president of the Campania Region, Vincenzo De Luca, focusing on the Covid situation in the city. After recalling in the introduction that “in my role as mayor of Naples, I represent the highest health authority” of the city, the mayor considers “necessary, urgent and indispensable that all data on the progress of the virus be constantly communicated to me and in a detailed way, because they represent the main tool that allows to analyze the contagion on the territory and, in particular, its diffusion within each Municipality ”.
In this way, the administration can also realize the “relative resurgence and penetration in the territory and among the community of the Metropolitan City, a very important part of the Campania Region, of which, I remember, I am the mayor.” The letter, also sent for information to the president of the Council of Ministers, Giuseppe Conte, the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, and the prefect of Naples, Marco Valentini, underlines that “the correct flow of information represents, not only, a crucial point of the fight and control of infectious diseases, but it also constitutes a very delicate aspect of the network of relations between institutions that should characterize their collaboration, with the sole objective of safeguarding and defending the health of citizens. It seems to me appropriate and necessary that the Mayor of Naples and the Metropolitan City cannot be excluded from the Crisis Unit created to face the pandemic. So, I reiterate the request, formally, with full rights, to be part of it “.
