Goodbye to one of the greats of rock. At 65 he died Eddie van halen after losing his battle with cancer. Of Dutch origin but emigrated with his family to the United States at the age of seven, Eddie Van Halen approached music from a very young age, starting with drums. At the age of twelve he discovered his true passion, the guitar. Initially he practiced with his brother Alex, they mainly studied different styles of rock, then his brother switched to drums and together with bassist Michael Anthony and singer David Lee Roth in the late 70s they gave life to Van Halen. The band immediately established itself on the international music scene. The 1984 album went platinum five times in just one year and the famous single Jump made history. The band won the 1992 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance with the album For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. In January 2007, Van Halen was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. But the band wouldn’t be what it is without Eddie Van Alen. Although he did not invent the technique of two-handed tapping, which involves playing the instrument with both hands on the tuning fork to cover unusually wide intervals and impossible with traditional legacy, he perfected it and introduced it to the general public. He also struggled for a long time with alcoholism and drug abuse, and even ended up in rehab in 2007.
