For him and for the Republicans this is a real disaster. Trump has always given his best in face-to-face rallies, in front of crowds of supporters. It is there that the most violent slogans are created against opponents (the famous “Lock her up” versus Hillary clinton). That’s where you know how to inflame the crowd. Rallies are the occasions that best suit his histrionic aggression and are what he is most proud of. Even on Tuesday, in the presidential debate with Joe Biden, Trump boasted of the thousands of people who flock to his meetings.

The sudden conclusion of Trump’s campaign comes at perhaps the worst time for him.
