A new guidelines document on Covid-19 in schools, becomes part of the Veneto region’s strategy for the prevention and treatment of positive cases of the coronavirus. The text was presented today by the president of the Region Luca Zaia, during the press point dedicated to the situation of the virus in Veneto.
HERE IS THE ORDER OF THE REGION
“The situation is evolving and we must evolve our operational protocols – said Zaia – making them relevant to reality and corresponding to the advances in diagnostics, starting with the use of rapid antigen test, which we experienced for the first time in Veneto and proposed nationally, where it received validation from the Ministry of Health. We already have them unique in Italy 500 thousand in stock and we are ready to go.
Quick test at school. In the event of a positive result of the rapid test for the SARS-CoV-2 antigen, pending confirmation with molecular biology tests, all public health actions aimed at limiting the risk of spread will be initiated. In case of negativity to the antigen test, in the presence of symptoms highly suggestive of COVID-19 and based on the evaluations of the treating physician, a confirmatory molecular biology test may be indicated or, alternatively, repeat the antigen test afterwards of one or more days. The Public Hygiene Service will also evaluate each individual case in its specificity to define the most appropriate strategies.
Go back to school after sick leave. These guidelines are accompanied by a complete Flowchart (flowchart 1, flowchart2), which exemplifies and outlines the methods of returning to school or daycare after the absence due to illness, an aspect on which many doubts from the families were concentrated.
