She was captured in Syria Alice brignoli, the 43-year-old Italian who five years ago traveled to Syria with her husband and children to join the Islamic State as a “foreign fighter.” The Carabinieri del Ros involved in the “Match” operation arrested this former secretary renamed “Mamma Isis” under investigation for association for the purpose of international terrorism.
The woman had been located in Syria by ROS agents who, who went to that country, were also able to trace the four minor children of the woman aged 8, 10 and 12 years, plus another minor born in Syria, all repatriated.

Investigations found that in 2015 Brignoli, along with her husband Mohamed Koraichi, an Italian citizen of Moroccan origin, and their three minor children, had left Bulciago, in Lombardy, to reach the territories occupied by the self-proclaimed ‘Islamic StateWhere Koraichi participated in the military operations of the Caliphate, while his wife played an active role in educating children in the cause of jihad.
The couple converted to Islam in 2008 and isolated themselves from the rest of the world. In WhatsApp messages to Syria’s mother, the woman had sent photos of her children camouflaged. Her history is marked by conversion and marriage to a Muslim, but it is clear from her mother’s stories that Brignoli was convinced of her accession to the Caliphate.

“Happy to be back in Italy”

Alice Brignoli is “very happy” to return to Italy with her 4 children (one was born in Syria), even if she ends up in prison and her children are entrusted to a community. This is what has become known in relation to the investigations of the Ros de carabinieri, coordinated by the head of the Milanese anti-terrorist pool Alberto Nobili and by the prosecutor Francesco Cajani. The woman’s husband, as far as it is known, has died in Syria. The order was signed by investigating judge Manuela Cannavale.
