Today in Italy 1,766 cases of new coronavirus have been detected with 87,714 swabs (yesterday there were 1,869 with 104,387 swabs made). The ratio of new infections to tampons today is 2.01%, compared to 1.79% the day before (the figure varies considerably by region, see below). Last Sunday, to make a comparison on the same day of the week, the percentage ratio was 1.9%. Therefore, the slow growth of the epidemic curve continues, even looking at the 7-day moving averages, which are less affected by daily fluctuations. There are 17 dead, like yesterday. A week ago there were 15. The data was provided by Civil Protection.

The pressure on hospitals

The number of ICU hospitalized for covid today rises by 7 to 254 nationwide (there were more than 4 thousand ICU hospitalizations in Italy at the beginning of April, at the height of the emergency. The minimum was reached on July 29 with 38 people in intensive care; then a slow but steady recovery). In contrast, non-serious hospital admissions increased by 100 units for a total of 2,846. 49,618 people are in home isolation, or 918 more than yesterday.
