PRAY 15:05 – A qualifying all under the Yamaha banner in Barcelona, with the M1 able to corner the front row with Morbidelli on pole ahead of Quartararo and Rossi. Iwata’s bike confirmed his balance and speed as much as it did at Misano on a track with profoundly different characteristics and even Viñales’ fifth position today confirms how fast the M1 can be at Montmelò.
Fourth starting point for Jack Miller, who shares the second row with Viñales and Zarco, sixth and winner today in his challenge with Bagnaia, which in any case already seems largely resolved in favor of Turin. Pol Espargarò opens the third row, ahead of Jaon Mir, who will be watching the race tomorrow. The Spaniard Suzuki is objectively very dangerous in the race and in terms of the championship and seems ready to pick up his first success in MotoGP.
Ninth position on the grid for Danilo Petrucci, who on Saturday managed to take an important step forward compared to what he saw yesterday in free practice and at least harpooned a third row that augurs well for tomorrow’s race. Fourth and last row for Brad Binder ahead of Nakagami and Oliveira.
Bad classification for Pecco Bagnaia and Andrea Dovizioso, both overcoming the obstacle of Q1 many times. Bagnaia will start 14th while Dovizioso has fared even worse, tomorrow he will even reach 17th on the grid, one of the worst qualifications of his career that tomorrow will force him to a great comeback if he does not want to lose too much ground in the championship against his rivals in the title race.
PRAY 15:03 – An important day for Valentino Rossi, who will start third tomorrow and has chosen the best time to return to the Parc Fermé: “Today is a special day, I signed the contract to race in 2021 and I am very happy. Being in the front row is very nice, it is something very important to have a good race. We have worked well since yesterday, in FP4 we put everything in.” together and I knew I had a good pace, but doing the fastest lap in qualifying is always a different matter. I was able to drive well, to the limit and without making mistakes. ”
PRAY 15:01 – After the French, it is the author of the post who comments on the Parc Fermé. Morbidelli talks about his first pole position in the top flight: “It’s a great feeling, I’m very happy. I really wanted to go fast today, I felt full of energy. I felt I could do a good job, we did a great job in FP4, so I’m really very happy with the day of today”.
PRAY 14:59 – First driver to comment on Fabio Quartararo at Parc Ferme, defeated today by an increasingly incisive Franco Morbidelli: “Franco was very strong today, I don’t know how he did it! I’m happy to be in the front row, perfect that it’s a whole row of Yamaha. I’m also happy for the team, which performed very well. An important result for the race. in the morning”.
PRAY 14:57 – Therefore, tomorrow it will be a front row for Yamaha, while the only ones who saved Ducati’s honor today were Jack Miller and Johann Zarco, fourth and sixth respectively, finishing in a sandwich in fifth position for Viñales and his Yamaha.
PRAY 14:54 – Nice photo in the closed park. Rossi and Morbidelli, united in 2021, embrace to celebrate this beautiful classification.
PRAY 14:52 – Franco Morbidelli’s pole position! The Petronas Team rider edged out Quartararo and Rossi on a Yamaha front row.
PRAY 14:50 – Great moment for Morbidelli, who snatches the pole from Quartararo right now! The Frenchman is on the right track, but he doesn’t seem capable of responding to our Franco.
PRAY 14:49 – Here is the classification at the moment, Quartararo first ahead of Morbidelli and Rossi who closes the first row.
PRAY 14:48 – Yamaha show on the track. All the M1 drivers are improving.
PRAY 14:46 – The French snatches the second half behind Morbidelli. Miller 3rd ahead of Viñales, Zarco, Pol Espargarò and Valentino Rossi, who is currently 7th.
PRAY 14:45 – Quartararo scores excellent intermediate sectors, but Viñales is also improving his time a lot. Key moment for the French.
PRAY 14:45 – It is strange to see Quartararo at the end of this Q2 classification. At the moment, the Frenchman only has one lap under his belt, far from the leaders’ benchmarks.
PRAY 14:43 – Revolutionized ranking. Morbidelli is still the leader, but behind him the cards are shuffled as the drivers return to the pits to change tires. Minutes of fire are expected in this second quarter.
PRAY 14:42 – Good time for Brad Binder, who is in 4th place.
PRAY 14:39 – The first pass through the line confirms the speed of the Yamahas! Morbidelli leads the standings ahead of Viñales and Rossi. All Yamaha front row now. A mistake kept Quartararo away, but the Frenchman’s claw will soon arrive.
PRAY 14:38 – It will probably be a fratricidal fight between the Yamaha riders for pole position today, with Quartararo, Viñales and Morbidelli in the role of favorites.
PRAY 14:36 – Q2 starts in Barcelona, now it’s serious and for the next 15 minutes it will be a real fight to get pole.
PRA 14:34 – Valentino Rossi seeks concentration in the pits. Rossi proved to be very incisive during the weekend, especially when pushing, always managing to leave at the right time. He could also be a very difficult front row customer.
PRAY 14:31 – There is little time left for Q2 that will award pole to Barcelona. These are the 12 drivers who will compete on the track for the first four rows of the starting grid.
PRAY 14:29 – Bad disappointment also for Pecco Bagnaia, who could not get a place in Q2.
PRA 14:27 – This is the classification of Q1 in Barcelona. Ducati and Honda smile after having placed Miller and Nakagami in Q2. Dovizioso, world leader, will start tomorrow only 17th. A real defeat, given that Andrea was convinced that he was very competitive in Barcelona.
PRAY 14:26 – The best moment is for Jack Miller ahead of Taka Nakagami. Nothing to do for Bagnaia and Dovizioso, both outside of Q2.
PRAY 14:25 – Bagnaia does not give up the idea of entering Q2 and is pushing very hard.
PRA 14:23 – Jack Miller still files his time. Behind him Alex Rins rides Suzuki, while Aleix Espargarò is third. Dovizioso slow in the first sector, he doesn’t seem able to fight to get into q2 at the moment.
PRAY 14:21 – Dovizioso on the track to attempt the assault on the time trial. He is using the first lap just to gain confidence, after which he will launch a couple of timed attacks that will be critical. Miller improves in the first sectors, aims to return to present his time.
PRAY 14:19 – Bagnaia exchanges opinions with the Pramac Team technicians. The rider tries to find the last step to be incisive on his Ducati.
PRAY 14:17 – Change the classification again. Miller is in front of everyone and the second is now Aleix Espargarò with Aprilia. Here is the ranking as the drivers stop in the pits to change tires.
PRAY 14:16 – Crutchlow places the leg and takes the best time ahead of Dovizioso. Bagnaia, however, is improving and aiming for first place.
PRAY 14:14 – At the end of the first attack in the time trial, Rins is ahead of the classification to precede Iker Lecuona. The Spaniard from KTM had an accident in FP3 and was unable to take advantage of the new tires, otherwise he seemed to have the potential to be directly into Q2.
PRAY 14:12 – This is the list of drivers on the track to fight and conquer one of the first two positions at the end of Q1.
PRAY 14:10 – Green light in pitlane, Q1 starts in Barcelona and there are many big names on the track that will fight for a place in Q2. The favorites on paper are Ducati drivers and Alex Rins.
PRAY 14:06 – Yamaha’s Lin Jarvis spoke to Sky to comment on Rossi’s signing with Petronas for 2021: “It was not difficult to sign the contract, there were no obstacles. I worked six months to achieve this result, I am very happy with this. Today is a good day for us and for Yamaha, it is good to know that we will have Valentino with us. at least one more year. It’s also good for Petronas, and I think it’s good for all MotoGP fans as well. Valentino is a very important character for this championship. It was not easy to sign this contract, because you have to understand that Valentino had to resign from the official team and it was not easy for him. Then we talked about a Japanese company like Yamaha and a team from Malaysia, with an Italian rider. It wasn’t easy to handle everything, we just took the time. “
PRAY 14:04 – Here is the ranking of the FP4 MotoGP of Barcelona. Viñales takes the fastest time in a session that saw Valentino Rossi also shine with an excellent pace, very effective on both the soft and the medium tire on the back of his Yamaha.
PRAY 14:02 – Curious scene in Barcelona, with Pol Espargarò returning to the pits in his Rc16 on an inner lane of the circuit.
PRAY 14:00 – Hello and welcome to our LIVE chronicle of the qualifying sessions for the MotoGP Grand Prix of Barcelona. The drivers are busy on the track for the final stages of FP4.
Everything is ready in Barcelona for the pole hunt, which will start very soon. Free practice crowned Fabio Quartararo in the role of man to beat and the first candidate to win pole position at the Montmelò track. The Frenchman was irresistible especially in FP3, scoring the best time against an excellent Maverick Viñales, which is still very consistent after what was shown especially in Misano 2.
Danilo Petrucci also managed to secure a place in Q2, fourth in free practice, with Morbidelli and Rossi seventh and eighth respectively.. A few minutes ago it was confirmed that the two will be together in the team at Petronas in 2021 and today they will compete on the track for a place in the first rows of the starting grid. The KTMs also showed great potential in Barcelona, so much so that they placed three RC16s in Q2. The Austrian bike continues to establish itself as one of the most competitive of the lot at the moment.
The other Ducati riders riding GP20 will have to redeem themselves after a boring free practice. While Zarco with the Avintia GP19 in fact took a fifth time and a place in the sun in the classification, Luck was different for Bagnaia, Miller and Dovizioso, who occupy positions 11-13 in succession.
Our LIVE ranking report will start at 14:00 and will also report on the 4th PM result. Stay tuned!
