Aprilia, arson attacks in Sermoneta, among those arrested the president of Pro Loco

It would have been a friction between the municipal administration headed by Giuseppina Giovannoli, who took office in June 2019, and the president of the local ProLoco to unleash the ire of the latter, Giuseppe Gentile, 56. According to him, the man, after having supported the candidacy of the current mayor, would have felt harmed by some decisions taken by the mayor’s team, starting with the management of the Fiera di San Michele, from which he would have been expelled. Hence the decision, along with his accomplices, to act by first burning the cars of the deputy mayor (on February 7 and 22), then the mayor himself, on the night between May 8 and 9.

The detainees are Giuseppe Gentile, 56, president of ProLoco; Giovanni Bernardi, 41, sentenced for being Latina; Emanuel Poli, 44 years old from Sermoneta with little background; Angela Toti, 49, Poli’s partner and currently under house arrest.

Poli responds to all three episodes, while Gentile responds only as a director. Bernardi participates in the first, then he is arrested for other reasons and does not participate in the other two. Toti, for his part, seems to have accompanied his partner in all the episodes. The investigations, carried out in concert with the local station coordinated by Commander Antonio Vicidomini, led to the reconstruction of the events, also thanks to telephone interceptions that leave no room for doubt.

In the early hours of this morning, the Carabinieri of the Territorial Department of Aprilia arrested, in execution of a precautionary custody order in prison, four persons responsible for the burning of the cars of Maria Marcelli, deputy mayor of Sermoneta (events committed on 7 and 22 February 2020) and Giuseppina Giovannoli, mayor of the same municipality (engaged on May 9, 2020).

More updates coming soon.
