Hundreds of empty chairs in Sicily and assignments denied to full professors. Lyrics

Sent by Lilla Occhipinti – Dear Minister Lucia Azzolina, Dear Vice Minister Anna Ascani, Dear General Director of School Personnel Filippo Serra, I am writing to all of you.

To all of you who, despite being inundated in recent days by numerous emails from our tenured professors, have been ripped apart without any qualms.
To all of you who have shown an obvious disinterest in the teaching class, which did so much to finish the last year with dignity, managing not to stop school.

To all of you who have been deaf to the despair of mothers and fathers, forced to leave their children and loved ones to go to work miles away, even knowing that the chair near the house was empty.

To all of you who have deliberately chosen to ignore our cry of despair to act quickly, even if it is at the expense of regulatory correction.

Unfortunately, the game is now over!
The fateful date of September 20 has passed and with it all our hopes are gone.

I am privileged.
He had requested the Provisional Allowance to avoid doing 80 km a day. I should shut up and accept with resignation the denial of the interim assignment, since I am still a few miles from home. However, I can’t. I can’t do it because there were 8 EMPTY chairs in my city of residence, some even available before August 31st, which have been DENIED and all have been assigned to precarious teachers. But above all, I cannot do it after hearing so many heartbreaking stories from mothers and fathers who this year were sure of succeeding, that at least for this year they could have stayed home, GIVE THE HUNDREDS OF CHAIRS AVAILABLE IN SICILY, and instead have Seeing their rights trampled on, they saw their dream vanish, they saw ‘their’ chairs go on assignment to the precariousness of the GPS and were forced to pack their bags and arrive at their headquarters located hundreds of kilometers away. I mean, I have nothing against temporary workers. They are teachers like us and they too must work, but complying with the rules and priorities, which this year have not been respected, but not their fault.
All this occurs, among other things, in a period when there is an ongoing pandemic and therefore it would have been common sense to limit the movements of teachers who have so many chairs available and the possibility of having them work in Sicily.

I repeat, I am privileged. I can be around my children, enjoy them every day, and watch them grow. But, how to explain to them, who have been following my story these days, that the Laws of the State can be arbitrarily ‘interpreted’ because there are PROFESSORS SERIES A AND SERIES B?
Oh yes, that is correct. This is what angered us even more … we all depend on the same Ministry and yet there have been ‘sons and stepchildren’.

This year WE ITALIAN TEACHERS DO NOT HAVE ALL THE SAME TREATMENT!

Professors from Veneto, Lombardy, Piedmont, Marche and other Italian regions have seen their classifications shift and they have been assigned the chairs that have remained free, as has always been done in previous years (I attach the additions published by some of these Territorial Areas ).
Those of us who lost it were the teachers from the south. We from SICILY. We are indispensable teachers in the north and perhaps that is why we do not ‘return’ to our lands.

But what really humiliated us, dear sirs, was your silence.
None of you deigned to answer us, give us an explanation. We have been treated in the worst way by the Ministry of Education and by all of you who represent it, that is, WE HAVE BEEN IGNORED.
No one intervened on our behalf. Why? Have not you noticed? Was he too busy saying everything was fine to the point that he didn’t even have time to read the hundreds of reports that came in?

You still have time to apologize to us, the tenured professors.
There are teachers who still check the site of the school office in their province daily in the hope of seeing their dream come true, of reading the word ‘integration’, of having recognized their right. Yes, even today the deadline has been passed. Because we cannot resign ourselves to injustice!

GIVE THE SCHOOL OFFICES WILLING TO CORRECT AND INTEGRATE ASSIGNMENTS.

The happiness and serenity of hundreds of families is in your hands.
And then you will avoid throwing schools and school offices into chaos as hundreds of appeals have already been started …

Amiability
