Coronavirus in Campania, hospitalizations increase: full hospitals, Covid centers in Caserta and Salerno

The numbers of new coronavirus positives, issued every 24 hours by Civil Protection, require the utmost caution: on average 150 new infections per day, although 90 percent are asymptomatic, around 10% are forced to cross the threshold of ‘ Hospital. The beds available and planned by the Region, divided into the first two phases of low and medium epidemic intensity (Plan A and Plan B), especially in Naples, are now all full. For Covid activities, 9 kidney places will also be made available for patients in dialysis, for inmates, a hybrid operating room for various specialized emergencies. El Cotugno will continue to have 8 intensive care locations for all other non-Covid infectious diseases and 30 hospital beds dedicated to meningitis, sepsis, acute hepatitis, endocarditis, and bacterial infections. The hospital as a Covid-19 center then requested to have the board of the capacities of the other Covid centers to provide, according to the central 118, any transfer.

Also the Maddaloni hospital (ASL of Caserta) that had already remained wide by making 56 places available to the Covid network (all occupied) as of Monday, will activate another 21 units for a total capacity of 15 intensive care and 71 ordinary and sub intensive. It is also set to start a 20-seat Covid resort at Teano Community Hospital that will welcome patients who are cured but still positive for the virus. In a month it will be the turn of the old Palasciano hospital in Capua to re-start the engines with 18 other places to cure quarantines.

Also in Salerno, in Scafati CovidAn additional 16-bed increase is expected in the fourth wing of the hospital starting Monday. There are currently 56 hospitalized patients of which 18 are in isolation, 19 in infectious diseases, 16 in subintensive, 4 in resuscitation. Agropoli does not open at the moment but could dedicate up to 32 beds to Covid in case of need. Ariano Irpino, which could house 23 to 43 patients, also warns about the return to the functions of the Covid unit.
