A fifth grader is infected: it is the second school in Maremma. Meanwhile, the ASL reports 8 cases: the minor is 2 years old
GROSSETO. At an elementary school in the Grosseto municipality, a child tested positive for Covid. And the whole class (a fifth) has been quarantined: a total of twenty students and two teachers are at home.
The news dates back to yesterday, September 23, when the building, which in the previous days had been an electoral college, reopened its doors. In the morning, the students had returned to class. Then came the cold shower when the first information began to spread and was confirmed in the afternoon.
The boy had tested positive for the swab. All the ASL protocols foreseen in cases of coronavirus infection have been activated, with the molecular tests required for relatives and close contacts of the positive student, as well as for the entire class of classmates and teachers.
It is the second case in Maremma of an institution in which a contagion has emerged. In mid-September, the schools had just reopened and it was the southern area of the Grosseto province that registered the first case of Covid in a child attending a primary school in the area. The student resides in the municipality of Monte Argentario. Attention is still high in Maremma; and it could not be otherwise in this complex reopening in which (anyway) schools throughout the province are doing everything possible to organize themselves in the best possible way and guarantee safe lessons.
The main rule, provided for by the security protocol for the reopening of schools by the Higher Institute of Health, Ministries of Health and Education, establishes that, in the case of a positive Covid student, all those who have had a contact within two days of evaluation. The behaviors are the most rigid in high schools: for everyone there are no ritual kisses and hugs and smiles hidden behind the masks (only children up to six years old are exempt from using it). And then not all of them run together up the stairs, at the entrance and at the exit, but in single file at a distance of one meter along the specially marked paths in almost all schools, at fixed and cadenced times. Hand disinfection, in many cases thermoscanner samplers to measure body temperature (required procedure at home) and then to the classroom, each in their own place, where they will remain seated for the entire time of the lesson, except to go to the bathroom in the scheduled time slots. For now, forget about recess in the hall, those ten minutes of loud chatter before resuming the lesson for the second part of the morning. As well as group activities, school trips, laboratory hours, unless there are conditions to guarantee safety.
The guidelines, in Grosseto, were presented by the ASL to the school directors, who are called upon to comply with the anti-contagion rules, but with the possibility of making variations (more restrictive) according to the organization, numbers and spaces of their school . . The situation is constantly changing. Much is at stake with everyone’s sense of responsibility – children, school staff, family members – in respecting and enforcing them.
The financial statements of the ASL Meanwhile, yesterday afternoon, the ASL officially announced 8 cases, in the province of Grosseto. A 45-year-old man with no symptoms and already in home isolation for being among the contacts of an infected person. 51-year-old man already in home isolation, also asymptomatic; an 83-year-old woman already in home isolation, symptomatic.
