Shortly before 12.30 pm a fire broke out in the nursing home “Ca ‘Dei Nonni Senior Service Centers” in Albaredo d’Adige, in the Veronese area. Two people were injured, fortunately slightly.
Guests and staff were evacuated and rescued. On the path that leads to the nursing home you can see the beds lined up on the side of the road, in both pavilions, with elderly people with masks on their faces, attended by nurses and civil protection volunteers.
The fire would have developed in the attic. The causes have yet to be clarified. In all, 83 older people were pulled out in time before the flames spread to the facility. Only one of them was slightly injured. The other person who was injured, also slightly in this case, is a health worker in the nursing home who was rescued along with the other 18 colleagues.
Dozens of fire crews converged on the area, as well as from Verona, also from the neighboring provinces of Padua and Vicenza.
