CAMPODARSEGO – One class of 24 primary school students at home in quarantine. It happened in the via Verdi primaries in Campodarsego, after a classmate tested positive for COVID-19. Confirmation comes directly from School Management, who immediately reassures all parents: the situation is under control.
Last friday the hygiene district from Ulss 6 Euganea confirmed the positivity of the 7-year-old boy for coronavirus, who attends a second class at the primary school in the capital. According to the protocol, the district formally requested the days of presence of the sick child, the names and contact details of all their classmates and teachers who had contact with those children. At 11:25 a.m. the direction of the inclusive institute of Campodarsego sent a Pec to the prevention department of the ULSS of Padua with all the necessary data to identify the people involved.

BUFFER FOR EVERYONE
That same afternoon, at 4 in the afternoon, the buffer to the students and the two teachers: the result, for all, was negative. Thus, after an initial period of fear and anguish, serenity returned. But the Ulss health district still decided to quarantine 14 days to the class. Now the process anticipates another buffer next Monday. In case you fail again, return to class on Tuesday, September 29 with a certification from the district.
“Even in these delicate moments the teachers of our comprehensive school are giving everything to support families in difficulty – says the school’s management -. All the other children subjected to the swab have tested negative, so we are aware that the current safety measures are correct and effective. Actually the second grade was at school on Friday, from Saturday until today the school was closed for the elections and therefore the children will lose completely four days of face-to-face lessons. Meanwhile, until Tuesday, the head teacher is studying with her parents the most effective way to talk to students at home.
But families are now struggling with taking care of children at home. “Our children are too young to attend videoconferencing lessons – say some mothers in a chat with their fathers -. We take into account that last year they only attended six months in class, because as we know since March, with the covid, everyone has stayed at home. For our children we need support and absolutely physical presence in the classroom ».

ALTERNATIVE
And to meet the needs of families, a teacher has taken on the burden of finding, together with the parents of second graders, a solution that satisfies everyone. The new mayor of Campodarsego Valter Gallo is very concerned: «The Campodarsego school has introduced all the precautions possible to comply with safety regulations – he says -. The approximately 1,000 students in the municipality returned safely to school, without staggered schedules. But the risk, we know, is very high. We really are in the hands of the lord».
The ULSS prevention department supports school communities and Covid risk: “Together with school leaders and Covid representatives from each individual institution – explains the principal Ivana simoncello – We will decide from time to time what to do about the interruption or not of face-to-face teaching ”.
