He is the youngest Covid dead in Sardinia. Fabio Lecis was 33 years old, a health worker from Isili, in the southern province of Sardinia, who died in the afternoon in the emergency room of the Santissima Trinita hospital in Cagliari. The man was one of the first infected this summer, when there was an outbreak on the Costa Smeralda, where the 33-year-old had spent a few days on vacation.

The health worker was followed at home by the ATS, but his condition had worsened and he arrived at the hospital in desperate condition, with severe respiratory failure.

There are 49 new positive Covid 19 cases registered in Sardinia in the latest update of the regional crisis unit, 32 detected through detection activities and 17 due to suspected diagnosis. The figure brings to 3,405 the total number of infections verified since the beginning of the emergency. There are also two other deaths, a 62-year-old woman, hospitalized in Nuoro and a resident of the Sassari area, who died on September 21 but was only included in the report today, and a 79-year-old man, hospitalized in Cagliari and resident in southern Sardinia, who passed away this morning. There are 145 victims in total. A total of 175,829 swabs were performed, an increase of 2,169 tests compared to the last update. On the other hand, 100 patients are currently hospitalized (+4), while the number of patients in intensive care remains unchanged (21). There are 1,624 people in home isolation. The progressive number of positive cases includes 1,508 (+25) recovered patients, plus another 7 clinically recovered.

In the territory, of the 3,405 positives tested in total, 550 (+14) were detected in the metropolitan city of Cagliari, 336 (+3) in the south of Sardinia, 242 (+4) in Oristano, 374 (+14) in Nuoro, 1,903 (+14) in Sassari.
