Loses control of his boat after an anomalous wave: the Paduan plumber dies

[ad_1]

A 63-year-old Padua, Giacomo Maroni, lost his life this afternoon while sailing in the Pellestrina lagoon (Venice), not far from the coast. It happened around 4.30pm. According to an initial reconstruction, the man was driving a pleasure boat when he lost his balance (perhaps due to a wave) and slipped, hitting his head: at that point the boat, out of control, skidded and crashed into the concrete pier.

The tragedy

For Maroni there was nothing to do. The rescuers who arrived at the scene tried to save him, without success. The port captain’s units also intervened and carried out investigations to reconstruct the accident. Maroni, originally from Vigodarzere, father of two children, had been a plumber by profession but later left the company to his children. He was probably taking advantage of the mild weather of these first days of autumn to take a boat trip; sadly, however, the trip had a tragic impact.
