Integrated teaching, how to activate it. Some advice from Giovanni Marcianò (Director of the ITIS “Quintino Sella” in Biella)

The new school year that has just begun is characterized by the previous experience in which the Italian school necessarily had to reconsider the “role” of educational technologies, having “suddenly” passed from experiments, pilot projects and attempts to a generalized situation, with the exceptions eliminated and considering the infrastructure difficulties, which made it possible not to interrupt contact and activities with students and families.

In the interview available in the video on this page, the director Giovanni Marcianò, who for years has dedicated himself to training, assessment, early school leaving, robotics and new technologies, examines some fundamental aspects of integrated digital teaching ( “DDI”, more commonly called today “DAD”) which has in fact transformed teachers into “distance teachers” and can be summarized as: planning, training, privacy and security.

The first step related to “design” is the basis of this current change, but equally important is still the “training” of teachers who must teach them to focus on the didactic need, the tool and its application according to needs, times, ages. through the help of synchronous or asynchronous devices, individual or group, with which to make the classes work even more efficiently than can be done in presence respecting “privacy” and “security”. In any case, it will be essential, in this now irreversible process, not to waste the experience gained from March 2020.
