Until midnight yesterday the reason had not been identified and for this reason the attorney general Leonardo Leone de Castris and the deputy on duty, arrived at the scene of the tragedy with the carabinieri of the Investigation Unit and the Lecce Company, both requested the presence of anti-drug dogs from the Guardia di Finanza to inspect the victims’ apartments and the computer consultant Silverio Greco to examine the contents of their smartphones.
Therefore, the path that leads to an acquaintance is also beaten. To a young man who was enraged with a knife to his body a few minutes before 9:30 p.m.
The alarm was raised by an elderly couple who lived in the same building, on the second floor, when they heard a deafening thud at their front door. Not even time to open it when they found the girl leaning on the door lintel, in a lake of blood and with deep wounds.
The call to 112 and the arrival of the police reserved another tragedy: another person was lying lifeless on the stairs of the first floor. Lying next to the stairs was Daniele De Santis.
Daniele and Eleonora who lived in the apartment where their parents lived. The father was searched for a long time by phone, without result.
The mother arrived in front of the entrance of the condominium at 11:30 pm: alarmed by the first news that circulated at night, by the presence of police patrols and carabinieri, by the white and red tape that marked the entrance to the condominium.

They also seek witnesses among themselves, the carabinieri. And they look for video surveillance systems in via Montello and in the nearby streets. Counting, perhaps, with some mistake the killer might have made in a hurry to escape.
It appears, in fact, that it was a violent murder. If only because the staircase is open to the large patio of the condo. And, therefore, in view from the street: some passersby may have witnessed the chase on the stairs, the stab wounds suffered by the young couple and the escape of the murderer down the stairs, through the courtyard until they reached the street. Even the vehemence with which the knife blows were inflicted points towards the trail of hasty murder.
The reason remains to be identified. Of course the condos in that building were in shock because Daniele and Eleonora led exemplary lives: guys dedicated to their jobs, kind and polite. Which further deepens the mystery of his murder.
Examining incoming and outgoing phone calls and messages will clarify whether they had made an appointment last night with the person who later became their executioner. Or if you have to look for the author among a stranger: a thief? A person involved in the prostitution ring on those streets?
Meanwhile, last night the carabinieri brought four people to the barracks who seemed to know the habits of that young couple. And also a boy who introduced himself as Daniele’s friend, but in a state of shock and disbelief to the point of breaking down in tears and screaming in despair.
