Migrants: 12 landings at night in Lampedusa – Chronicle

Twelve ships, with 263 migrants, mostly Tunisians, arrived in Lampedusa (Ag) during the night. At around 1.30 am, 85 migrants were located by the carabinieri immediately after an autonomous landing in Cala Pisana. At 3:30, 11 Tunisians, 39 Libyans and 20 Tunisians disembarked at the Favarolo pier, after a patrol boat docked its 3 small boats in the waters off the island. Meanwhile, a small boat with 14 Tunisians arrived at the Madonnina pier. Shortly before 5 in the morning, 10 Tunisians were escorted to the Madonnina pier by a Guardia di Finanza patrol boat and shortly after another 4 small boats – with 7, 21, 16 and 17 Tunisians on board – were also blocked by the yellow flames. After 7 o’clock, two more landings with 13 and 10 Tunisians. All were taken to the hotspot where there are more than 1,200 migrants.

This morning, about thirty migrants arrived by boat at Fungiteddri beach, in Torre Salsa nell’Agrigentino. As soon as they arrived, they got out and headed along the trails of the inland nature reserve until they reached State Highway 115. The Mareamico association posted a video of the landing on Facebook.

Yesterday another eleven small boats, with about 300 migrants on board, were rescued in the last hours in Lampedusa where in one day a record number of 26 landings was reached, more than one per hour.

The landings of migrants in the south of Sardinia do not stop. During the night, six people, four men and a woman with her one-year-old son, were located by the police while they were leaving the beach of Domus De Maria where they had disembarked aboard a small boat from Algeria. . The migrants, all in good health, were already transferred overnight to the first reception center in Monastir where they will be identified and visited. They will then have to remain in quarantine within the structure for provisions on fighting the spread of Covid-19.
