(ANSA) – ROME, SEPTEMBER 20 – There are 415 million children in the world exposed to possible crossfire from weapons and the effects of Covid-19. These are data published by Save the Children, which in 2019 had almost 1,000 attacks on schools or hospitals. Among the situations considered most worrying, in Yemen the bombings have more than doubled compared to the end of 2019, in Syria 84 hospitals and health centers have been reached since last December.
On the eve of the International Day of Peace 2020, on September 21, the NGO also launched a podcast series entitled ‘Children of War’ and available on Spotify and the Organization’s social networks: five stories of children who survived five wars in the span of 80 years, from World War II to the Biafra War, from the genocide in Rwanda to the ongoing wars in Syria and Yemen.
