ROME. She had rejoiced at the murder of young Willy, beaten to death in Colleferro, hidden behind a false profile. But he was unmasked by the Postal Police who identified and reported him. The author of the post published immediately after the death of the child who became a symbol of bravery and altruism is a 23-year-old resident of Treviso: “How glad I am that you got rid of that chimpanzee,” wrote the university student, an expert in computing, unleashing collective outrage. He also called Monteiro Duarte’s murderers “heroes” who, according to his delusional thinking, had the “merit” of killing a black man whom they described with great contempt as a “chimpanzee.” All by publishing a photo shared by Gabriele Bianchi, one of the four arrested for the beating of Willy.
He also added: “It is useless to report the post that I put – he wrote again on the profile – so much so that I have already made so many visible just for me that every time they are deleted they appear again.” And then he had taken a step back obviously not considered credible by the investigators: “I am going to report some people who have revealed my Facebook address. The one who wrote the post was not me but my friends who held my phone, I would never dare to think about certain things, it is not fair that I assume certain responsibilities for two str … ».
The fake profile
He felt secure behind that artistically created character on social media by borrowing the name of Manlio Germano, a film character played by Claudio Amendola in the film “Caterina goes to the city” directed by Virzì. He also made believe he was a fan of Latina Calcio to fool any investigation and bring his delusional messages to the Lazio region. The company immediately distanced itself from this elusive follower: «The Latina Calcio 1932 Ssd Arl company announces that it has never had any kind of relationship with the user and expresses its disagreement with the statements and communications made so far. At the same time, he expresses his deepest condolences to young Willy’s family.
A virtual mask that allowed him to act undisturbed online to express all his racial hatred without paying the consequences. Using sophisticated anonymization techniques with which he was able to connect to social networks through foreign providers, eliminating all personal traces.
The investigations
But his unlawful and reprehensible activity without appeal did not last long. The Facebook profile, in which there was also a photo with the logo of the Brothers of Italy, was removed but this did not prevent the Postal Police of Rome and Latina from wasting their time. And he immediately launched a thorough investigation to track down the author of the posts. Using advanced computer analysis techniques, they were able to reconstruct telematic traffic step by step. And they managed to locate him in a hotel in Florence thanks to the collaboration of specialist Tuscan operators. The young computer scientist was reported to the Public Ministry of the Latina Court. Now he faces up to 8 years in prison.
