(ANSA) – SHANGHAI, SEP 19 – The Chinese government announced the establishment of a mechanism that will allow it to limit the activities of foreign companies, a measure widely perceived as a retaliation against the United States after the ban on TikTok and WeChat decided by Donald Trump. The announcement comes from China’s Department of Commerce and, not to mention the United States, is aimed at companies whose activities “undermine China’s national sovereignty and its security and development interests.”
The announcement comes as the United States has banned the download, starting tomorrow, of the TikTok and WeChat applications owned by Chinese giants ByteDance and Tencent. In a previous statement, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce accused Washington of practicing “intimidation” and “bullying”. (HANDLE).
