Covid, the “double negative buffer” is not beneficial. For at least three reasons

The Covid-19 epidemic has already done us considerable harm, but for certain things we are also getting worse with legislative measures incorrect. I mean the “double buffer” issue. This rule is the result of a criterion initially recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO). But who she left it herself after it became clear that testing can always reveal traces of genetic material from a virus that is no longer there. in infectious form.

In its guidelines, the WHO says today that a patient is no longer contagious “10 days after the onset of symptoms, plus 3 additional days without symptoms. For him asymptomatic cases, 10 days after a positive test for Sars-Cov-2. “As a result, the double buffer rule has been abandoned almost everywhere, with Italy being one of the few exceptions that maintains it.

The double swab problem was recently noticed by the group of scientists founded by prof. Guido Silvestri under the name of “Optimism Pills” (PDO). It is a group committed to the dissemination of news and scientific knowledge about the epidemic of coronavirus. Members of the DOP issued an appeal calling for the double tampon to be abandoned, noting that:

In short, while undoubtedly the double test was introduced with the best of intentions, it is doing more harm than good. It is the result of an attitude towards Covid-19 based on outdated data and rules.

As Professor Silvestri has pointed out on several occasions, this epidemic must be managed from a cost-benefit perspective. Silvestri uses the allegory of the “boat between the two rocks”, where the two rocks are oneepidemic, the other the consequences of the closure and the various containment measures, many times harmful to health and not only to the economy.

So in light of the latest scientific evidence, it would be time to to update certain things and adopt a more realistic attitude about handling this epidemic.
