Bacteria leak from a laboratory in China, more than three thousand sick

More than 3,000 people have fallen ill in northwest China after bacteria leaked from a biopharmaceutical plant that made vaccines for animals. The event dates back to 2019 but local health authorities only published a report on the matter last Tuesday. The news, picked up by the Chinese media, was later relaunched by CNN.
The disease in question is brucellosis., transmitted by livestock or animal products. It is generally not contagious in humans, but can cause fever, joint pain, and headache. A total of 3,245 people tested positive for the bacteria, said health authorities in Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu province. And no cases of person-to-person transmission have been observed.
