The announcement of the Minister of Sport. It will start with the semi-finals of the Tennis Internationals in Rome. Another brick to the restart
Finally, from the semifinals and finals of the International Tennis Championships, a thousand spectators will be able to attend all the sporting competitions that will take place in the open air and that will scrupulously respect the rules established in terms of spacing, masks and seat reservations ”. This was announced by Sports Minister Vincenzo Spadafora.
The deal
–
“In the next few hours the decision will be made official – Spadafora added – but I would like to immediately thank Minister Speranza for their collaboration and the Scientific Technical Committee for having planned the hearing I requested in a timely manner. From the discussion with the representatives of my offices, the conditions emerged for a more in-depth study of the issues related to the world of sport and to share our point of view on the need not to differentiate between cultural events and sporting events. Finally, from the semifinals and finals of the International Tennis Championships, a thousand spectators will be able to attend all the sports competitions that will be held outdoors and that will scrupulously respect the rules provided for spacing, masks, seat reservation: a first but a significant step towards the return, hopefully soon, to normality in sport. I hope that all the necessary actions are carried out more quickly so that the decision can be applied immediately ”.
Stadiums
–
Naturally, the announcement of the new regulation immediately raised the question of the partial reopening of the stadiums. Pending the formalization of the decision, the common interpretation is that the change may also be applicable to the facilities that host football, until now condemned behind closed doors. On this, however, there is also caution because some companies would like to take advantage of the opportunity, others are skeptical because the thousand spectators would be far from ensuring the sustainability of the company (as demonstrated by the decision of the Premier League). However, the choice could also be left to individual companies. The League is conducting evaluations. In any case, from a symbolic point of view, the very partial reopening could put one more brick in the reboot building. However, nothing to do, at least for the moment, on the issue of the reduction of shock absorbers proposed by the Football Federation. For now, the Technical-Scientific Committee has not yet addressed the issue and will probably only do so next week.
