The “Torno Subito 2” trial ended with the conviction of 26 of the 32 defendants It arises from an investigation by the state police on absenteeism in the municipality of Reggio Calabria.
The sole judge Andreina Mazzariello widely accepted the requests of the Public Ministry represented by the Prosecutor Giovanni Bombardieri and by Deputy Gerardo Dominijanni. Convicted 26 employees of the municipality were sentenced to sentences ranging from one and a half months to eight months in prison.
For two of the acquitted defendants, Pasquale Bonocore and Antonino Branca, the formula “because the fact does not exist” was used. Others four, however, were acquitted “due to the particular fragility of the fact”. They are Antonino Pino, Maurizio Delfino, Sebastiano Gullì and Pasqualina Scuncia.
Investigations by the Prosecutor’s Office revealed that many employees of the Municipality used to attest to their presence in the workplace from which they then left without justified reason, thus obtaining an unfair profit.
