The warning foresees, from the early hours of the afternoon today, Wednesday September 16, rain with a predominant storm character in Calabria and Sicily, especially in the south-central sectors of Calabria and north-east Sicily. The phenomena will be accompanied by heavy showers, frequent electrical activity, local hailstorms and strong gusts of wind. In addition, strong winds are expected from the northern quadrants starting this afternoon, with locally strong gusts or gales, in the Ionian sectors of Sicily and Calabria, with possible storm surges on the exposed coasts.
Based on anticipated and ongoing events, an orange alert was evaluated in sectors of Calabria and Sicily for tomorrow, September 17. In addition, a yellow alert was evaluated in part of Puglia and in the remaining areas of Calabria and Sicily.
