Murder in the capital – The police detained Salvatore Cau – Shock in Canepina: “A decent man and family man”
Canepine – On the asphalt of via Borghesano Lucchese, in the Portuense district of Rome, there are still the bloodstains of Emanuele Mattei. A 43-year-old waiter was stabbed on the night of September 14-15.
The Trastevere company police, who are investigating the case, immediately arrested two men and then took them to the barracks to be heard. The motif will be explored and the contours of the story remain unclear. The first hypothesis is that the victim was killed by a debt of a few tens of euros.
One of the two detainees is a 46-year-old Egyptian. The other is Salvatore Cau, 48: originally from Sardinia, born in Rome but has lived in Canepina for a long time. Married, he has a nine-year-old daughter and works as a waiter and janitor in the hotel business. And in the capital he would have found himself to work.
Upon hearing the news, Canepina proved to be a troubled country. Cau and her family are known as humble and decent people. Not infrequently the 48-year-old was seen, even if the work in Rome took a long time.
The man was taken to prison yesterday afternoon, after spending the night and most of the day in the barracks. Heard for hours, he is in custody for murder as the alleged perpetrator of the crime.
The murder occurred around 2. The alarm was raised by some residents of the area after the commotion, the screams and the screams. Among these also those of Mattei’s girlfriend, present at the time of the murder when the carabinieri and 118 arrived at the scene, there was nothing to do for the 43-year-old.
According to an initial reconstruction, between the victim and the two men, who were in a car, there was a dispute during which Mattei kicked the door. Shortly after, one of the occupants of the car came out and stabbed him in the abdomen. The 43-year-old man would not have died instantly, but within minutes of his very serious injuries. The prosecutor ordered an autopsy on the body.
The couple in the car would later drive away, but the Egyptian would later return to the crime scene. Recognized by some witnesses, he was arrested by the carabinieri. His post would be more isolated and there would be no disputes over him regarding the murder at the moment.
Soon after, Cau was also identified. Before being transferred to the barracks, the 48-year-old would have ended up in hospital with a head injury that was not ruled out during the dispute. Both Mattei and the alleged killer have no criminal records.
