Apple has chosen the path of continuity with the Watch Series 6. From an aesthetic point of view, there are practically no differences from the previous generation. In fact, the Cupertino company has mainly worked “under the hood”, to introduce many other features on the software side. It is a bit of the approach that has always characterized the Californian giant’s smartwatch and that has made it successful, thanks to its perfect integration with the apple ecosystem.
This year, the focus is on health. Apple Watch Series 6 is in fact based on the watchOS 7 operating system and it brings with it all the software features announced by the company during WWDC 2020: app to remind you to wash your hands with the proper frequency and correct method; blood oxygen measurement; VO2Max measurement (which expresses aerobic power) and sleep app for deep control of sleep quality.
Considering the health emergency related to Covid-19, Apple has placed special emphasis on the function which allows to measure oxygen in blood. Through four LEDs and four photodiodes placed on the body in contact with the skin, an algorithm estimates the oxygen level (between 70 and 100%) when you are still or asleep. Then everything is reported in the Health application, a true control center for these types of areas.
Under the body is the SiP S6 (20% faster than the previous generation with the same autonomy), the U1 chipState-of-the-art, ultra-wide band antennas and always-on altimeter. The new Solo Loop strap is very interesting, characterized by a design without holes or interruptions, which makes a little nod to that “minimal” trend so fashionable today. There is also no lack of news for the screen-printed version of Nike, now a constant in the Apple catalog.
The screen and dimensions were unchanged. The price starts from 439 euros (exactly like the last generation) with immediate availability.
