Students sitting on the floor without desks: not a hoax

[ad_1]

Yesterday was the first day of school for many students and, unsurprisingly, they did not lack inconvenience me controversy. In particular there is one Photo that is going around the web at this time -also because it has been taken up by many members of the opposition- that sees students sitting on the floor using the chairs instead of desks.

They are students of a primary school in Genoa; an image that, as the governor of the Liguria region, Giovanni Toti, underlined, “not worthy of a civilized country”.

The image inevitably unleashed the reactions of parents and politicians, but it must be said that in these hours it has arrived partial denial from the principal of the school where he took this –Castelletto Institute of Genoa – who gave his explanation of what happened.

This is not a hoax since the photo actually shows what happened in this class on the first day of school, however the principal – Renzo Ronconi – downplayed the situation by giving an explanation that – in part – clarifies What really happened.

Students sitting on the floor without desks: what really happened

This is the offending photo. An image that can only really be discussed when you see a group of students Sit on the floor using the chair instead of the desk.

In this regard, the governor of the Liguria region, Giovanni Toti, addressed the Minister of Education as follows:

Dear Azzolina, these are the students of a Genoese class, who write on their knees because they don’t have the desks you promised. Our children, teachers and families do not deserve this treatment, especially after the sacrifices made in these months in which it was also a moral duty to work to avoid all this.

Toti then declares that he wants to write to the dean of the Castelletto Institute to find a remedy in this regard. However, it is the director Enzo Ronconi who responds to the governor explaining that the image was misunderstood.

The desks promised by the Ministry of Education, in fact, will arrive today, Tuesday September 15, 2020. A slight delay (but still), with the school that could still have been use last year’s desks to prevent students from sitting on the floor. However, to avoid putting the old desks only for one day, it was decided to open the schools with only chairs, in what was a “public holiday”.

In this regard, in the photo you can see “children who, during the didactic activity, draw serenely in freedom“The teacher who made her spin.”I made a mistake“According to director Ronconi, however it still is”bad exploit it”.

Director Ronconi’s explanation still leaves us some doubts: even for a day, even though he defines it “a day of celebration”However, it is a bad image to see children who, after the difficulties experienced in recent months – and the fears that characterized the return to classes – are forced to sit on the floor due to lack of desks. It is good that they arrive today, but it would have been advisable to do so before the start of the lessons.

On the other hand, this is not the only school that has been found without the new banks the first day of classes; there are several, and in many cases, delivery is only scheduled for the next few weeks.

In short, even if the principal tried to downplay, honestly with little success, the fact remains that the start of the 2020-2021 school year was characterized by many delays, letting schools think of solutions “imaginative“To organize the reopening.
