Speak from the hospital bed Ciro Migliore, partner Maria Paola Gaglione, died in Caivano in Parco Verde after being attacked by his brother Antonio Michele Gaglione – that she did not accept the relationship between her sister and a trans man. The situation is tense: all day the Villa dei Fiori clinic in Acerra was besieged by journalists and before speaking Ciro waited a long time to reflect on what and how to say it. He appeared to the reporters in shorts, in a wheelchair, with his arm bandaged, tired, emotionally and physically exhausted but at the same time wanting to reestablish the facts.
Just before Michele, Paola’s brother, defended by the lawyer Domenico Paolella, was interrogated for two hours. He is under investigation for involuntary manslaughter with the aggravating circumstance of base and heinous motives.. An autopsy of the victim’s body was ordered. In the afternoon, the investigating judge decided that Michele would confirm the preventive detention in prison, assuming the existence of the danger of escape and repetition of the crime.
Ciro speaks and tells his version. It says two important things. The first is the accusation against Michele Gaglione: “He wanted to kill me, he threatened me and it was not the first time.” He then confirms the character of the attack: the Gaglione family was against the relationship between Maria Paola and Ciro, a trans boy who has before him a path to affirm his identity, which in his soul is already clear. A condition that according to Ciro Migliore was unacceptable for Maria Paola’s family:
“Michele that night we met him by chance, I found him behind with the scooter. There had been previous discussions between us. She appeared at my house and wanted to ‘rip my head off’ there was my mother and I can confirm. She said she was killing me, that she shouldn’t be with her sister. I preferred that his sister died just so she would stay with me. Even the mother (ed. De Paola) said so. Because we were two girls, he said. On the scooter she said t’aggia cut ” by layer, I have to cut off your head. The first threat was on July 13, Paola and I had to escape together and we had to come to live in Acerra. They found out when they saw her phone, they beat her and they also came to my house, her brother and her father, that night of July 13, I did not leave the house. “It’s not true that he said he wanted to talk, he thought only of me, he thought he wanted to kill me. It was not an accident. He pushed me more than once, I skidded with the scooter and fell. That scene is a nightmare.
Ciro also answers the reporters’ question on his transitional state and on how he feels now that he has lost the partner with whom he thought to start a new life in the nearby town of Acerra, with the support of his family and some friends:
I want to be called Ciro, I’m Ciro. And I’m still Paola’s boyfriend even though he’s gone.
On September 13, 2017 we got together. We were friends and then we realized that it was a love it was no longer a friendship. We looked at each other and she told me she loved me. To change the mentality of some people I don’t know what can be done, I don’t know how to explain it. My family loves me for who I am, I can’t take it anymore.It had to happen to both of them. I want to see her for the last time in Maria Paola.
The health conditions of Ciro Migliore
Michele in addition to the involuntary murder of his sister, aggravated by useless causes, is accused of injuries against Ciro, since he confirmed that he had thrown himself against Ciro after the tragic fall from the scooter and hit him. Ciro remains hospitalized at the Villa dei Fiori clinic in Acerra, with a broken forearm and injuries to his body; his condition is improving and he could be discharged in the next few days.
