Caivano, Maria Paola died of “an accident”: the defense of Michele Gaglione

During the hearing, which lasted approximately two hours and took place in a dramatic atmosphere, Gaglione defended himself by claiming that he did not want to harm the girl, and thus confirming the defensive thesis also supported by her relatives: that she was a fortuitous accident and not a deliberate action. Gaglione – who was assisted by the lawyer Domenico Paolella and must answer for aggravated homicide for useless motives – He would have told the examining magistrate that for him María Paola was more a daughter than a sister. Paolella said that the family had lost track of Maria Paola for a few weeks. He packed up and left. When Antonio saw her on his scooter, he chased her with his motorcycle, but to ask her to go home, to talk to her, to make her think. She had left without explanation and the entire family was desperate. At a press conference Cyrus, María Paola’s boyfriend, said: My family loves me for who I am, I can’t take it anymore.
