Tuscany, September 14, 2020 – In Tuscany, there are 13,173 cases of coronavirus positivity, 59 more than yesterday (24 identified in the course of tracking and 35 from detection activities). New cases are 0.4% more than the total of the previous day. These are the data – verified at 12 noon today based on requests from the National Civil Protection – relative to the advance of the epidemic in the region. It should be remembered that as of June 24, 2020, the Ministry of Health has modified the data collection system on the spread of Covid-19. Positive cases are no longer indicated according to the province of notification but according to the province of residence or domicile. There are 539 positive cases reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions (2 more). Therefore, there are 9 cases found today in the ASL Center, 17 in the northwest, 31 in the southeast. Tuscany is confirmed in 10th place in Italy in terms of the number of cases (including residents and non-residents), with around 353 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (Italian average of 477 x 100,000, yesterday’s figure). The reporting provinces with the highest rate are Massa Carrara with 729 cases x 100,000 inhabitants, Lucca with 423, Florence with 388, Livorno with 191, the lowest. In total, 2,400 people are isolated at home, as they have mild symptoms that do not require hospital treatment or are asymptomatic (38 more than yesterday, plus 1.6%). There are 4,127 (26 more than yesterday, plus 0.6%) people, also isolated, under active surveillance, for having had contact with infected people (Asl Centro 1,595, Northwest 1,798, Southeast 734). The people hospitalized in beds dedicated to Covid patients today are a total of 100 (3 more than yesterday, plus 3.1%), 18 in intensive care (1 more than yesterday, plus 5.9%). The total number of people cured is 9,523 (17 more than yesterday, plus 0.2%): 201 people cured clinically (stable compared to yesterday), that is, they were asymptomatic after presenting clinical manifestations associated with the infection and 9,322 (17 more compared to yesterday, plus 0.2%) declared completely cured, the so-called viral cures, with double negative swab. Today there is 1 new death: a 51-year-old man. Regarding the province of notification, the deceased person is in Prato. 1,150 have died since the beginning of the epidemic as follows: 418 in Florence, 53 in Prato, 81 in Pistoia, 176 in Massa Carrara, 148 in Lucca, 93 in Pisa, 65 in Livorno, 50 in Arezzo, 33 in Siena , 25 in Grosseto, 8 people died on Tuscan soil but they were residents outside the region. Tuscany’s crude death rate (number of deaths / resident population) for Covid-19 is 30.8 x 100,000 residents against 59.0 x 100,000 for the Italian average (11th region). Regarding the provinces, the highest mortality rate is found in Massa Carrara (90.3 x100,000), Florence (41.3 x100,000) and Lucca (38.2 x100,000), the lowest in Grosseto (11.3 x 100,000).
